FAQs

What is the difference between 3D ultrasound and 4D ultrasound?

3D is a still 3-dimensional image while the 4th dimension is capturing the baby’s movements on video.  Then there is HD (high definition).  This unique technology takes 3D/4D ultrasounds to a whole new level.  Don’t miss out!

What is your facility like?

We are a family-friendly environment, one that is inviting, relaxing, comfortable, and spacious for you and your family.  Children are always welcome here. We do have limited parking so if you have a large family, please talk to us in advance so that we can make sure to accommodate all of your vehicles.

Are 3D and 4D ultrasounds safe for my baby and me?

Yes!  Our 3D/4D ultrasound machine uses the same frequency as your doctor uses with 2D ultrasound. Ultrasounds have been used for over 35 years and there have been no proven side effects from its proper use.

When is the best time to have a 3D/4D ultrasound?

That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in twice, early on, 14-24 weeks, when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room.  32 weeks will always be our favorite week.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance because this is an elective procedure.

At what time in the pregnancy is gender determination most accurate?

At 14 weeks we can determine the gender with a very high accuracy. If you are 13 weeks and the gender cannot be seen, we invite you back for a weekday return appointment and we will rescan you for free within the next 14 days. The need for a return visit is usually due to the baby’s position.  Our requirements for a 13 week gender determination are as follows:  1)  Mom has to have a flat lower abdomen.   2)  Drink plenty water just prior to ultrasound  3)  Dating scan in first trimester

How can I be sure to get the best possible 3D/4D pictures?

Most doctors recommend maintaining a healthy fluid intake, especially while you are pregnant. This will help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. There are many things out of the photographer’s control like the baby’s position, the mother’s build, amount of amniotic fluid, etc.

What should I do prior to the 3D/4D appointment?

Drink plenty of water even days before the appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. About a half hour before your 3D/4D ultrasound scan, try to drink a fruit juice so that your baby will be awake during your session (unless you are told not to by your physician).

How long is the 3D/4D session?

Depending on the ultrasound package that you select, your session will last between 10 and 40 minutes. However, plan on spending 30 minutes to an hour at our studio so that we can send you home with memories to last a lifetime. It is best to arrive a few minutes early to fill out some paperwork.

Are family and friends welcome to join?

Yes! We encourage you to bring your friends and family to share this special moment with you. Children are also welcome. We love how the older siblings respond to seeing their little baby. Our ultrasound room is comfortable and your friends and family can easily watch the monitors and see the imaging.

How can I pay for the ultrasound?

We currently accept VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER credit/debit cards, electronic checks and cash.

When do I get my 3D/4D pictures and videos?

Less than 5 minutes after your session has ended.

Will my doctor be contacted about the 3D/4D ultrasound?

We do not contact your doctor prior to the scan since this is an elective procedure. We do require however that you currently are under prenatal care and if you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor. Ultrasound technicians are acting in this capacity as photographers and cannot make a diagnosis.
